Governor of Adamawa State RT Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri appealed to the Federal government to put all necessary mechanisms in place for the actualization of the Mambila hydroelectric dam project, for the overall development of the region.
It is worthy of note that the Mambila HEPP 3050MW power project designed to be the largest single Hydro power project in Nigeria has been on the drawing board for 50 years; a 5.7 billion dollars contract was signed by the Buhari administration with a Chinese consortium lead by CGGC with Sino Hydro and CCEC as partners to be funded by the Chinese Exim Bank of 85% of the turnkey project while Nigerian Government will commit 15% of the funds as Pre Commencement Activities (PCA) of resettlement and basic infrastructure critical to the project including an airstrip up the Mambila Hills, which has the highest altitude of Chabbal Waddeh.
The Governor appealed at the 10th anniversary celebration of His Royal Majesty, Dr Shehu Baju II, the chief of Mambila.
The Governor was represented by the Secretary to the State Government Hon. Awwal D. Tukur, Sardauna Gashaka and Wakilin Ganye;
Governor Ahmadu Fintiri commended his Taraba State counterpart H. E. Agbu Kefas for striving hard towards ensuring peace and unity in the state. HRH Dr. Zubairu Hamman Gabdo Lamdo Gashaka was visibly around throughout the day.
